My husband & I had a very unpleasant episode of scombroid poisoning last Friday after eating smoked mackerel which we had bought from Waitrose. The pack didn't have any signs of tampering or any other signs to indicate that it had been punctured and the fish spoiled as a result. Also, the fish was well within its BB date so sage to eat. I had severe flush, tachycardia, throbbing headache, tinglingly and dry mouth. I really thought I was having a heart attack and called 999 after taking my pulse and discovering it was near the 200 mark! My husband had diarrhoea and cramps.
